Midnight Oil in Concert

Midnight Oil was a staple in my household growing up. Every week we had Mum’s famous spaghetti, our girl’s night in to watch the latest Survivor episode and spent Saturday mornings cleaning the house to The Oils.

I always admired my Mum’s passion for politics, activism and feminism and her love for the cool band fronted by Peter Garrett, but I never imagined Mum and I would get to see them in concert together.

2017 was the year it happened, Mum and I singing along to The Oils’ classics at Sidney Myer Music Bowl! I loved the meaningful lyrics, heartfelt messages by Peter between songs and the passionate energy from all the band members.

I hope the powerful messages and activist spirit stays with everyone throughout 2018!
